Puppets have a special place in the heart of every Turkmen citizen. The Puppet Theatre carries on in a modern line this important tradition that is handed down from one generation to the next. The theatre building stands out with its aesthetic form and the puppet statues on its façade, each is a work of art on its own.
The Puppet Theatre in the capital of Ashgabat was built with the aim of introducing the tradition of puppets which has a long historical past in Turkmenistan, to future generations. The latest technologies in stage mechanics and speaker and lighting systems were used in the project. In the Theatre building, in addition to the halls, there are rehearsal halls, puppet and decor workshops and interpretation cabins.
In addition to its technological supremacy, the Puppet Theatre is also remarkable with the sculptures of giant puppets of fairytale heroes used in the exterior building. The sculptures which are the fruits of an extensive and careful work have been created with special materials over hundreds of drawings made for famous fairytale heroes.
