Package Itinerary

Day 1 –Saturday 15th September, 2017: Arrival in Ashgabat

Early arrival in Ashgabat. Meet your local guide at Ashgabat International Airport and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation in “Grand Turkmen” 4* hotel. Full day driving tour of Ashgabat's main sites including Park and Monument of Independence, Arch of Neutrality, a 75m- high monument with a revolving golden statue of the first President Turkmenbashy.  Hit the viewing platform of the Arch of Neutrality to see the beautiful panorama of Ashgabat. Tour to Alem - the largest indoor Ferris wheel, panoramic tour to the “Bagt Koshgi” (wedding palace) and “Yildiz” Hotel - one of the city's top five-star luxury hotel, conveniently located at the foothills of the Kopetdag, which also offers an excellent view of the city.

Continue tour of Ashgabat, visiting of Russian Bazaar and having lunch in the local restaurant near the bazaar. Lunch will cost around $5-10. After lunch visiting of Lenin Park and Ertogrul Ghazi Mosque.

Welcoming dinner in a traditional Turkmen house called “gara oy or yurt”.

Day 2 –Saturday 16th September, 2017: Ashgabat

Morning drive to visit the famous Oriental Bazar - Jygyldyk (Tolkuchka in Russian - open on Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays only) where it is sold almost everything: camels, carpets, cars (Sundays only) and etc. where is possible to find plenty of souvenirs such as carpets, aladjas, handcrafts, felts, embroideries, jewelers and etc. It is also one of the best places to meet face-to-face with Turkmen culture and people. Return to the hotel. Take a rest. In the evening visiting of Puppet Theater.

Day 3 – Sunday 17th September, 2017: Ashgabat

Today is the opening ceremony of the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. A breath-taking Olympic Village has been built in the centre of the city, which in fitting with the rest of Ashgabat's architecture is all fitted out with glistening white marble and gold trim. There are multiple state-of-the-art stadiums and arenas, and there's even a sparkling monorail to match. The complex itself has cost more to build than a lot of the Beijing Olympics facilities, not to mention the brand new airport that's been built especially for the occasion.

The Opening Ceremony itself is likely to be one of the most spectacular shows you'll ever see. The Turkmens really know how to put on a grand mass concert, just ask anyone's who's been to the Independence Day concert.

Day 4 – Monday 18th September 2017: Ashgabat

We will spend today exploring the Olympic complex and visiting sporting events. You can choose one or two games events which you would like to attend from the attached competition schedule.

Day 5 – Tuesday 19th September 2017: Nisa – Kipchak - Kow-ata – Nokhur Mountain Village

Visit Nisa, a UNESCO site which was once the capital of the Parthian Empire, a half an hour drive north west of Ashgabat. Admission included. Drive to Kipchak to see the resplendent Turkmenbashy Mosque, where Turkmenbashy is buried beside his mother, father and two brothers in their white marble mausoleum. Continue on to Kow Ata. This natural underground thermal spring is said to have many medical attributes, but is also used by locals as a swimming hole and makes for a very fun and relaxing swim. Admission included. After a revitalising swim in the cave lake, we'll enjoy lunch at one of the shashlik restaurants just outside the entrance to the cave.

After having lunch drive to Nokhur Mountain Village.  Arrival in Nokhur. Short sightseeing of Nokhur village: visiting of "Gyz Bibi" Pilgrimage site & its unique cemetery where each tomb has the horns of mountain goats, the Great Tree - oldest tree in the village thought to be 800 years old. Evening short introduction with local silk textile weavers and having dinner at local family house. Overnight at local family’s house or tents.

Day 6 – Wednesday 20th September 2017: Nokhur – Balkanabat

Breakfast at local family house. Drive to Balkanabat. If you interested, it is possible to visit Paraw Bibi Shrine on the way. This shrine is one of the most impressive and popular sites of pilgrimage in the country. The actual shrine is set some 100 meters up a rocky mountainside overlooking the village and consists of a white mausoleum-like structure (described in historical sources as a mosque).  

Arrival in Balkanabat and check in Nebitchi 4* hotel.  Overnight.

Day 7 – Thursday 21st September 2017: Balkanabat - Yangikala – Turkmenbashi – Avaza 

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit the local bazaar to stock up with food & drinks. Drive to Yangikala where impressive limestone formations rise up from the desert sands with views of the Karabogaz Gulf in the distance. These limestone cliffs are the remains of massive coral reefs from the pre-historical Parathetys Sea. En route stop to visit the pilgrimage site of Gozli Ata - one of the holiest pilgrim sites in Turkmenistan. The mausoleum of Gozliata, located on a low platform against the backdrop of stunning pink and red limestone rock formations. Arrive and explore Yangikala. Take a picnic among the cliffs.

Drive to Turkmenbashy - the biggest port town of Turkmenistan. The town is enclosed with low mountains and faces the Caspian Sea. Arrive and accommodation in one of the best hotels in Avaza – the most popular sea resort center (10 km from Turkmenbashi) that is promising much in the future. Rest on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Short walking tour in Avaza with its nice beaches which will be turned soon into the free economic touristic zone with decades of luxurious hotels, resorts and health clubs. Overnight at “Seyrana”5* hotel.

Day 8– Friday 22nd September 2017: Avaza – Turkmenbashi – Dashoguz (by flight)  

Half day relax in Avaza. Check out at 11:30 a.m. Transfer to the Turkmenbashy airport for domestic flight to Dashoguz by flight No: T5 235. Departure at 13:40, arrival in Dashoguz at 14:45. Transfer and accommodation at Dashoguz Hotel. Short sightseeing in Dashoguz city. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9 – Saturday 23rd September 2017: Dashoguz – Koneurgench – Darvaza

In the morning drive to Koneurgench - the capital of Khorezmshahs (3-16th cc.) inscribed into the World Heritage Book of UNESCO.Koneurgench (known as Gurganch in the past) is the largest historical and archaeological park in the north of Turkmenistan. It is a large reserve with numerous ruins and monuments on the territory of modern Kunyaurgench. Such great Muslim scholars as al-Biruni, al-Khorezmi and Avicenna once worked here. Sightseeing of the old city: Portal of Caravansaray (11-14th cc.), Il Arslan Mausoleum (12th c.), Mausoleum of Khorezm shahSultan Tekesh (13th c.), Academy of Horezm (3-13th cc.), Mausoleum of TurabekHanum, Minaret of KutlugTimur (14th c.) - one of the tallest minarets in Central Asia, Najmeddin Kubra (13th c.) and Soltan Ali (15th c.) Mausoleums.

After sightseeing of KoneUrgench drive to Darvaza. Arrive at Darvaza and explore the flaming Gas Crater at sunset. Having dinner (barbecue). Overnight in tents.

Day 10 – Sunday 24th September 2017: Darvaza – Ashgabat

Drive to Ashgabat. En route explore the gas craters, first full of water, and second the sulfur - muddy.  Make the next stopover to visit Yerbent Nomadic village where you can enjoy seeing the local life in the desert - Turkmen yurts, dromedaries, tamdyr (mud oven) and many others. Arrive & check in the hotel “Grand Turkmen”. Overnight.

Day 11 – Monday 25th September 2017: Ashgabat – departure

Transfers to the airport according to your departure flight times. Farewell. End of tour.
